Date: May 20, 2003
Aperture: 8.0

Shutter: 15 sec

I did not want to make any shot regarding the movie. I had few days storm and I decided to shot a lightening. Maybe I'll be judged negative by voters, but I really like this image.

FROM THE CRITIQUE CLUB

Miodrag, Hi,

This is a good photo that you entered to the wrong challenge (it seems from your comments above that you knew that). Connection to The Matrix is quite tenuous.

As far as the picture goes itself, it is beautiful! The lightning looks like it's going upwards, from the building into the sky. The indigo sky is beautiful. The buildings are nice and dark, the scattered windows bright, and the star shaped lights look like they're trying to reach out to the lightning.

Focus and lighting are right for this shot.

It looks to me like the photo is slightly tilted to the right? At least the big building to the right hand side looks like that. Maybe that's intentional, I think it actually makes the photo more dynamic than if the sides of the building were aligned to the side of the photo.

Overall, it's a beautiful shot, and I'm glad you entered it, just because it's very good to look at. But, as you know, it doesn't really apply to the challenge, and that's why your score is not so high.

By the way, I loved your entry to "glass"! Your picture was one of my favourites that week. Keep up the good work,

Ursula (uabresch)

Nice image quality. I like the contrast of color in the image. The lights also add a nice effect. Good job.

Wow what a nice shot of the lightning although I'm not really sure it matches to the challenge but worth a show off.

A dramatic photo - I don't see a stong connection to the matrix, but thats just me. I like the black of the buildings and the different colors of the lights inside and out - the brilliant blue hanging overhead with the lightning.

So much luck needed to get good lightning shots - I can see why you submitted it, but it isn't all that spectacular, and only has the title to give it a more than tenuous link to the challenge. Good work though, for all that - though it appears to be tilted a little to the right.

I found this shot difficult to rate. It's obviously a dramatic capture with considerable range (I'm thinking of the cozy tungsten window glow vs. the cold street lights and lightning flashes).
The topicality of this shot, however, asks for a liberal interpretation of the matrix.

On reflection, I think it should not loose any points for this, since, at least, I am grateful that the range of choices is only extended by this contribution.

Nice shot! The upper right of the photo is a bit empty, though... might have cropped in tighter on that side.
