First challenge I entered with my Rebel XT! I have wanted to try a "splash" photo for a long time and this was the time. I had to set up on my deck to get enough light, and used a tripod and remote control. I went through a bag of cookies, two throws each before they got soggy and I had to eat them.

In Photoshop, I cropped several times (including cutting out my finger) and slightly adjusted levels, brightness and contrast, and resized. I wish I could clone out the cookie crumbs floating.

I like the lighting and shadow of splash--there's also tiny bits of cookie in the milk which is cool also.

some kind of diffusion over the light source would have made the shadows more graceful.

Love this shot, though if the cookie was a little bit sharper I think it would help the image.

Nice work. I can see from the crumbs, that it took you a few shots. :)

I like the shadow the milk makes as it flies, and I love the fact that the cookie is not the main focus of the image.

I'm looking for 3 things on "milk splash" plctures. 1) Object in focus (check), 2) splash captured without motion blur (check) 3) splash defined against background (nope). The top portion of the splash is lost in the background. It also looks like the milk has a color cast to it (or the cookie was sitting in it for a while). Not a bad attempt though. There were lots which were worse. 6.

haha...you and i had a similar idea...my shot is being creamed...around 4.3....i see too that...like me....you did a few cookie drops into this milk before getting this shot...hence the crumbs in the surrounding milk....personally this doesn't bother me...but it seems to bother others...like the composition...7

i like this one, though i think the milk looks a little too overexposed... the angle of the light really highlights the depth on the back of the splash, but we lose any texture on the cookie side.

I like the cookie in the left hand corner and the splash shadow works well. The milk looks a little "cookie-tinged". Had it been pure white I would have scored it higher. 7

Unfortunately, the splashing of milk is overdone in this category. Otherwise I like the croppiing on this shot.

You took this style of shot to the next level, and you made your milk the whitest. Congrats a on a great shot. Even the texture of the cookie looks great.

Seen a few of these now where ppl seem to be throwing stuff into milk lol. Although this shot is great, Id have liked to have seen the entire cookie from a further distance and see the entire splash. 6
