Taken at The Hopewell Rocks, Hopewell Cape, New Brunswick, Canada. Often referred to as "The World's Largest Flower Pots".

The tides in this area are close to the highest in the world - up to 46 feet - and the rock formations are carved out by the impact of the tides.

I was going to mention the "postcardy" thing, but I see your reasons for not having it in your comments. As a result, I will comment strictly on the picture quality. (Note, I think it would make a nice postcard even without a "caption")

First of all, the lighting and focus on this is really good. The details in the rocks, water, and trees is visible and it has good clarity to it. I also like the different "layers" in the pictue. The water, then then rock structure, the the sky. It gives it a good solid feeling without being static, and the eye has several different things to look out without being overwhelmed. At first, I thought there was too much sky, but upon reevaluation, I think it balances nicely withe water.

The only thing I can suggest to improve this shot is to frame it a little more to the right so that more water, and less land, is showing. The shot looks cold to me, for some reason, but unless you are GOD, I don't think you can change that.

Very interesting. I imagine those big waves could be a bit intimidating.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to PM me. Nice work, and best to you in future challenges.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I wish the lighting could have been better, but when working with the incredible tides here, it's all in the timing!! As it was, I came home with extremely muddy and wet shoes!!

If you'd like to see more pics from this "most visited tourist attraction" in New Brunswick, then go to my PBase site.

RE: text - I thought we were to take a photo that would make a good postcard, not make a good postcard... oops!!!

Lines and contrasts really make the eye move through and then around the photo! Light seems a bit harsh and "ordinary,", but composition is wonderful.

This is a nice photo, but without some kind of knowledge of what it is exactly, or even WHERE it is, I don't think i'd buy it as a postcard. About the image though, it's a wonderful shot. The sky is great, and I like the angle and framing/cropping you chose. Especially how you have the foam in the bottom left corner. nice. ~Heather~

Very postcardy, and technically speaking a beautiful shot. The only thing that kept it at 9 and not 10 for me was a lack of a certain spung, that magic 'Wow!' spark. But I have to save 10s for *something*, right? :->

I can almost hear the waves sloshing up onto the shore, and that sky is so crisp and deep blue. This is a fantastic photo!

certainly a crisp, picture postcard day! Why did you choose to leave off any text? Borders are not necessary either to make a good postcard, but often add a lot in terms of finishing and polish. :)

Great picture, but it's missing text. A nice border would also compliment the picture nicely. Looks like a great place to visit.

Beautiful colours. This must be The Rocks by Fundy. Great place to take photographs. Hopefully I'll get there this summer. Thank you for sharing. Jacko. 10

Nice pic, but the title eludes me completely.

Ahh, Bay of Fundy? I visited there briefly last Fall on a motorcycle trip.
I think a bit closer crop on the outcropping (pun intended) would be benificial. Only one opinion though

brown ocean, off lighting, muddy beach - not sure if this one encourages a visit ;-)

Beautiful image! This would make a great postcard shot. The sky color is very smooth I like that, and the focus looks pretty crisp all throughout. well done.
