 A guy named Tom on a route parallel to ours this weekend at Lumpy Ridge.

Not one of my better climbing pics, but it meets contest time requirements.

It's really hard to bring a sense of scale to climbing. If you look hard, you can see some lumps of color at the bottom middle - those are other climbers waiting their turn to start. At this point, Tom is almost done with the 1st pitch (rope length), but only about 1/5th of the way up the whole wall. Tom was rope soloing, which means that he had no seperate belayer (person to hold on to the other end of the rope), and was relying on a belay device - the small gold object on his chest. It's not necesarrily all that more dangerous, but it does mean that he has to climb everything twice - once to put in protection/gear, and once to take it out.

Too bad he stopped to cover his eyes. It would have been better if you got a climbing shot. Great view though. I like the composition.
