Completely precious. And I love the 3rd baseman left in for context. Go, Emily!

Didn't she star in the new remake of the "Bad News Bears"? LOL Great shot, Bob, and a nice finish in a tough challenge.

Great DOF. I like how you captured the emotion prior to the pitch.

8 - I really like this shot but can't quite take it up to 9. Really like the intensity in her face and the concentration and focus. Good angle and capture of the stance/positioning. Criticism; somehow closer, enhancing that said 'intensity'. Sharper and bolder and 'richer' for me would make this better. Maybe, more 'blur' on the one in the background, not sure, as that does 'add' to this photograph as is. The 'frames' in the background add too. Maybe with the 'funeral home sponsor' brought into it more, woiuld make 'Emily' seem all the 'meaner' - (for a girl).

I'm hoping to get a camera that allows me to learn how to master DOF like you've done here! Great comp and clarity on the subject!

nice focus and moment but you're missing her legs which i think are necessary here.

Gotta be tough being sponsored by a funeral home. Best sponsor I ever had was an ice cream parlor. Good photo. The crop could have been a little better. You cut off one person on the rump, and the other, well . . . we'll just leave it alone. I like the picture though. Nice job.

Particularly like the colors of this image and the determination on the girlĀ“s face, strange pixelation in the forground..

Lovely, but how did you do the background?
  Photographer found comment helpful.
07/13/2005 11:26:00 PM
I think the crop is awkward. It's an "inbetweener" where either a closer crop of the shoulders, head and glove would have formed a nice triangle (a desirable graphic element), or a full length body shot would have accentuated the tension of the action.

Darn, the background detracts too much from her. I would have loved it without the competing figure.

I think that this would have been a better picture without the youngster on the left. Maybe a square crop?
