 Poor Cody dawg, this is the aftermath from a feline fight and a vet visit. Note the stitches on her forehead.

resize, cropped, USM. Shot in family room with flash. Placed camera on the floor for a direct and steady shot.

Technically, the photo is good. What I mean by that is the focus and clarity are really good, the lighting is really good, Ithink you caught this at a good angle, DOF works to help get background elements out of the way. All those elements make for a good photo. This is definately not something I'd hang on my wall though. The subject just isn't visually appealing to me. As a documentary photo, it would be excellent. If I were the owner of the dog, or a vet, or maybe someone who studdied these kinds of things, I think this would appeal much more to me. But since I have no connection to the subject or event, It's just not holding my attention.
Like I said though...technically, it is VERY well done. Maybe a little too close of crop on the left, but overall technically good. ~Heather~

I hate cats too! Hope he/she is feeling better. (I'd show this photo to him/her if he/she decides to get brave again!) As far as the photo, Well shot and composed and interesting subject matter. A favorite of mine!

Poor thing! I don't think it's possible to find a more miserable looking pooch. Hope it is feeling better now. Very emotive image. Nice, sharp focus and good balance between the black and white elements.

Awwwwwww. . . . she looks a lot like my Lacey dog. She is so cute! I'm sorry she has to have a circle around her neck. It does make a very fitting photo for this challenge, butI hope she's okay.
