 Taken in my front yard, sun setting. I think this used to be for tying Dogs in the front yard, but the shoe lace seems way to brittle for that!

the subject, while plain, does make me wonder what is at the end of the rope, or what the rope is being used for. However, for a macro challenge you need to concentrate on an area of 1-2 inches - even without a true macro lens, you should be as close as you can to the subject and try for sharp detail of the most interesting part.

The idea was probably good at first, and the positioning for the rule of thirds not bad, but the overall composition/color/detail of the photo is unimpressive.

The nail and the cord are good and sharp, but the tree is overexposed, unfortunately.

Good compositional lines. I would have preferred a bit more saturation and toned down the brightness of the background.

This just isn't very interesting to me. The bark seems a tad overexposed. Maybe if the string were a brighter color - it might have worked better.
