The spoon is placed on a large mirror. A large sheet of vellum (or any diffusive material) is hung (see strings) a few inches above the spoon. An ordinary desk lamp is positioned above the vellum shining down. The critical thing here is that the vellum is positioned *between* the light source and the spoon. The desk lamp does *not* shine directly on the spoon. The light from the desk lamp is diffused through the vellum, and then that diffused light illuminates the spoon. This also insures that the only reflections you see in the spoon will be the vellum itself, not the lamp or anything else in the room.

I did not use a new spoon. It is straight out of my kitchen drawer.

I used vellum, which is available at your local office supply store, but any suitable diffusive material would probably work, too. You could try wax paper, or even a simple thin white sheet.

Very nice. I did detect diffused lighting but such lighting comes in many flavors. This has the added use of a mirror and the set up is most economical. Very nice.

What is a vellum sheet? Is it same as a tracing paper?
