David - the colours in this one are quite pleasent, and i see that light was your friend this week - its great to see experimentation in challenges, i think that takes a very brave soul.
Like with your metal challenge, the tightness of the crop was what held me back from a high score. I perfer objective photos, rather than photos of objects.
The painting with light opened you up to so many opportunities - the one i instanly thought of when i read you used this method was the to see the lamp on an empty table with the light falling around the lamp in an outwards glow onto the table. We would still know the lamp was the subject matter (or obsolete character) but it would give it a context. SOmetimes givingour subject a story makes the photo pop.

Thanks Jamie. I realise centering the subject is a big sin on this site. I hope I can learn the lesson :)

While still handy for emergency these units are obsolete. A very nice image with lovely warm tones. 7

Nice colours, the picture could have been straightened and the mirrored text distracts. Good idea.

Your subject is dead center, usually not a good approach.

Although cropped a little too close, this is a nice picture using the light from the flame. The looks more like the camping laterns we still use today instead of the old fashioned oil lamps but still a nice picture.

good idea, but not sure I am so crazy about the lighting. I know it was probably hard to get right with the light actually coming from the subject. I wonder what it would have looked like in black and white, or maybe from a different angle.
