This is my eye, which has become a favorite subject of mine I guess. I think this is my best eye shot so far though. This is three different crops of the same shot. I shot it with the on camera flash (using light from a window to get the focus to lock). Then brightness/contrast adjust, cropped the different sizes, desaturated the center frame, unsharp masked each at about .5 pixels and 150%.
I really hope this scores well, because I don't get my expectations up very often.

The original shot is very well executed. For having tried myself, I know it is very difficult to take a macro picture of an eye, especially when it's yours... The detail you captured is incredible. I also like the treatment you applied. It enhances the subject without giving the image a too much unnatural look.
My main criticism is about the multi-image composition. The idea of using different crops of the original: I think it is a good idea, but not when the original is a macro shot. In my opinion it is interesting to point out the details of an image by showing different crops at different zoom levels, but not if the original is already a macro. The pictures on the left of the original don't really add anything in my opinion. They may have added something if they were tighter crops of certain areas. But you would have needed even more detail to achieve this, which was very difficult with this subject.
So, to summarize: great original picture, but maybe not the perfect subject for the theme.

I really like the close-up effects on the cornea. I don't much care for the B/W shot in the middle, but that is just me.

The left pic should be centered as the other two are....

Ok, this is a little wierd. Not sure I understand it though. Why the monoochrome center? Hmmm....
