27th of july 2005: Uploaded a repost version, with more contrast. Also changed the title from "Beguinage" to "Stilte - Silence" as RGO suggested.

Old nun at the Beguinage of Brugge, Belgium.

Many monasteries are closed so the remaining nuns get a place in the 15th to 17th century beguinage of Brugge.

I like the toning very much. Composition is very good. If I could make a small suggestion? Recrop horizontally, taking out the upper quarter or so. Perhaps a good line to use would be the horizontal parts of the "cross" on the windows. The subject is walking along that path, and I feel the height of the composition doesn't lead viewers' eyes as much as possible onto the slight diagonal pathway. Love the silence sign...possible alternate title?

That's because this photo is quadtoned with blue, purple, green and black.

Wonderful photo. It has a feeling of an old film photo. I like the tones so very much.

very nice image...but, your blacks and whites are not pure. Especially your whites, they are definetly impure. Not by much mind you, but, If entered into a challenge I would of marked down on this aspect.
