Calunga statue revisted only this time it is wrapped in a sheet so only the face shows and you are looking at him head on. It is in my closet and I originally wanted the door knob or something to show but I like this crop. It looks kind of like it is emerging from the darkness. Remember how the closet door always had to be closed at night when you were a kid because of what might be in there? I originally titled it 'What's in your closet?' But something 'buzzed' me in a different direction.

You applied the technique of a solid black background to convey a sense of darkness correctly.

Like many entries this one is very low contrast. In this case it might be better if you applied autocontrast or other color/contrast adjustments to bring out the red, yellow and blue in the mask face. You could still leave some shadow on the ears to relate to the theme, but those colors are just too good to be muted.

Darkness is there. A spot of light on the face would help.

I'm afraid this shot won't rate very well as it's a mask, which is kind of like taking a photo of a statue, which I did once & got hammered for it. Good luck.

Looks muddy. Bring out the colours a bit. Nothing indicates closet. Could be a black hole.

There was 4 photos in this challenge that caught my attention, I think more on a subconsious level more than anything, maybe like a childhood fear thing or something. At any rate, I like it, and voted it very high despite what my wife was saying about me being crazy. GL, and TY for entering it.

This could have been brighter, and it still would have worked - nice composition. 4

Its a dark picture, but other than that it does not create any interest.
