Bold, unafraid, unbound by constraints (I am sure you will get a few "rule of thirds ... hey... rules of thirds... no fair..." comments); this image speaks volumes on a correct predisposition toward darkness: do not fear, but embrace that which is as essential as light. One compliments the other. Form is unidimensional if lighted without shadow. The light would turn days into deserts without night's darkness to refreshen it once more. I applaud the thought you put into this piece, recognize your accomplished effort and pronounce as a result that this is my top choice for this challenge. This will go in my favorites file as well. 10.

A little more open space to the left may have added a more dynamic feel...nice shot though

Very good silhouette, pity about the skyline...

Nice idea. I like the image. I find it stark, yet stimulating. Looks like a lot of 'jaggies' around the edges of the silhouette. Also, IMO, I think the composition would be a little stronger if the bottom black strip were cropped out, it doesn't really seem to add to the shot. Good job.

I hate it when commentators tell the photographer they should have cropped it differently, but I'd have cropped this right behind the bent elbow! Well I think I would have. It's almost a terrific image, but something seems not quite right to me, & I think it's the symmetrical positioning of the subject. Anyway, well done. 7

i would like it better if the differences between the amount of light on his chest and his face. i can make out some of the surface of his chest but his face is a total sillohouette...either one or the other but not both. for me, it makes his head look kind of un-real compared to his body. IMHO, of course.

Nice silhouette!

I'm really enjoying this. The pose is unusual, fantastic, even the fact that the model is centered doesn't hurt the image. I like the play on darkness both in the color of skin and the use of silhouette. My only wishes are that the background would be a little brighter to give a greater contrast, the line across the back be a bit more even and maybe a slim black border to finish off the image. I'm guessing this was posed but if not and you happened to catch it on the fly, its very nicely done (even if it is posed its great). I gave a 6.

Maybe you tried to get the expresion on the face of the boy, but it's to dark.

Great!

Better if subject wasn't dead center.

I think I recognize the shape from the 'self portrait III' challenge! Nice, could try something off centre.
