Wow, please tell us how you executed this shot. What is the lighting, is it flash? Is it really shot at 1/1000 sec f/8 ISO64??? That seems like a really low exposure for anything but a powerful flash, and I didn't know the F828 could sync with flash at such a high shutter speed.

I'm still blown away and I wish I could make images like this. Awesome.

upto 1/3200 , i use Metz mecablitz 54 MZ-4 with both my cameras :)

*also i used á wide angle conversion lens 180° from Bowens... :P

This is the work of a very accomplished editor. I applaud the skills you've nurtured in order to process an image as evocatively as this one. The muted, suggested shapes in the BG further indicate the presence of artistic endeavor. My only suggestion is to release the poet inside your soul. The title does not begin to strive to compliment the rest of this superior effort. One of my top ten favorites of this challenge.

And well done, like the lighting a lot a bit of a smudge on part of the nose, now haven't I seen this face somewhere before?

Nice lighting. Expression of fear, anger or despair would hace communicated darkness inside. Good one though. 7.

Beautiful portrait! Very striking. The edge of the zipper from the jacket gives it a bit of "edge".

Great job on this one. There are a few elements that stand out to me which really lend to what I like about it. I like that the hair goes across the forehead. I like the dark eye liner, yet the eyes are blue. I like the way the light sort of falls away as it moves down the face. Finally, I like the collar of the shirt and jacket going above the chin. This really has appeal. Great job.

Wonderful color, lighting and use of the rule of thirds. The black background support the challenge theme. General technical quality is excellent. The expression you captured is terrific.

The lighted items on the left showing up in the black area are indistiguishable as to what they are or what their purpose might be so would be viewed as distractions by most voters.

Despite that this is one of the top images in the challenges. Kudos for your great capture.

Nice picture. Would prefer to see more detail. Neat Image? gives this an unnatural look.

I find the minor image "smudges" on the left of the screen distracting. Perhaps full black behind the subject would provide a more stark contrast. That said, I rated this picture very high. It is highly emotive.

Very strong. Of course I see the great possibility of having used a light gothic makeup application. However, as is, it offers a great visual with those captivating feautures and their solemn expression. Bumping up.

I love the lighting in this photo, and the wind-swept hair look give this photo a very distinctive feel to it. The colours in the eyes are amazing.

Feels like a good use of negative space, but I can almost make something out in the background, which makes me wonder if you could see that on your monitor. Excellent model and great lighting on the face. I really like this one.

I love this photo.

The color, the lighting, the expression. I just want to turn around to see what it is she is staring at.

Only thing constructive I think I could say is that in the left half there are a few spots catching light from something. But this being the basic I'm not sure there was much you could have done to remove those. :)

Well, it's a very classy photograph. Plenty of style, if a little unambitious in the substance department. So I guess that's really "what darkness means to you"; a photo opportunity. You'll score very high with this one. 7

fantastic shot. I really dug to find a place that i thought this fit in the Darkness challenge. If you didn't title it the way you did I would of voted 2 points less, but indeed it said what does darkness mean to you. In that case you nailed all the technicals, and came out scoring very high in my book. GL
