I like the selective DoF and desaturation here.. nice work.. good exposure too

i like the effect that you used here, desaturation really works well for most images in my opinion

very cool use of desaturation. Now his eyes are simply piercing! I also like the focus..the eyes are clear but everything else beyond his face is just a bit blurred..its a very effective use of your DOF!

another domestic animal...after i gave comments and rate the cute puppy (of course with a favorable/high mark), i saw your entry. Excellent image, but im not totally agreed with your choice of composition (just my opinion...how about not to centered?)anyway, composition is not the only criteria im using...i like the idea of converting the cat in to black and white and retaining his eyes in colour...not so original idea but still work for your image. i like his posing, his expressive eyes catch my attention..Excellent work and you deserved a very high mark. congrats

not sharply focussed enough

One of the better "cat shots" I've ever seen. Beautiful tones, and I like your choice of desaturating all but they eyes. It really makes you connect with the subject in this case. 10

I was really hoping not to see too many family pet shots this week though. Not sure if the grey lines at the top and bottom of the screen are borders but if they are I'm not keen.

Having said that there's some extremely effective colouring in this photo - must have taken a while to get the right shot too.

how did you do that with the eyes?
is that allowed?

This is an excellent shot. The decision to desaturate everything but the eye color was good, it works here! Well done.
