Good one. I wouldn't change a thing.

I’m amazed at all the comments about not seeing the decision in my entry.

First of all no one sees a decision. The decision is not visible. Only the cause and effects. You may see the choices before during or after a decision. But the decision is in the mind.

2nd as a child you should have been told to make a wish before you blow on the dandelion plume. If you were never told you were cheated when you were young.

Please check out this link. //www.flowgo.com/funpages/view.cfm/11793

The next time you pick up a dandelion plume make a wish before you blow. That brief moment when you’re staring at the plume and making up your mind on what to wish for it what is captured in this photo.

I did not realize how many never heard of this wishing opportunity. I knew the shot was not a great shot. It was entered because I thought it would be fun to remind a lot of you of your childhood memories. I never expected such a low score because they never knew about making a wish on a dandelion.

For those that got it I hope you enjoyed it. And thanks for the two “Favorite” votes on the entry.

Dandylions gone to seed are a popular favorite subject at DPC. They are hard to get right but you have succeeded very well.

I'd choose a better lens, though this picture came out quite well. However, if not for the title, I would definitely see no decision here. Many of the pictures in this challenge had the same problem.

I don't feel that the image conveys instantly recognizable decision. Instead I see a very nice picture of a dandylion(sp?). The photo is what is important for this challenge, if you were being rated by caption + image, which if the two match I'd take into consideration, then this would rate better. But I'm not feeling the connection.

Looks like both your camera and lens are doing just fine. That's a nice sharp pretty image!!!! So in that case. .. .get both just for fun.

Alone, this image does not inoke any feeling of decision making or a decision that has been made. The title is its only link. Otherwise, I like the extreme dof use to highlight the subject and the sharpness of the bristles. It is not an image that I would hang on my wall, however I am certain that there is an audience for just this type of image. It seems well placed in the whole but I am drawn to wonder if a narrower crop where less of the stem is revealed would make it more interesting a capture. I leave this at a 4 soley on technicals as the challenge link for me is so weak.

Decision? Looking at this image I see no decision. Decision should be represented by the picture itself....not just in the title.
06/01/2005 02:00:52 PM
I don't think making a title fit the challenge, makes it ok to use a photo that doesn't.
06/01/2005 11:08:13 AM
Well, I must say that the title makes the image a whole lot better :)
06/01/2005 09:35:52 AM
I'm sorry. I don't see the decision in the picture.

If it werent for your great photo and your title this photo wouldnt fit
