Just had an itch to do some macro stuff. These ants have to crawl around these buds and eat on the to get them to open up. I have no idea what the flowers are called, they were already here when we moved in. I find that all creatures can be beautiful, but I am guessing this will get slammed. I am also guessing some will not like the shallow DOF, but I do.

I like the colours and the abstraction of this shot. Very well balanced composition and the bokeh is grand.

I like the abstract quality of the composition - the red and green shapes created by the narrow DOF. I wish we could see more detail on your ant - so little of her is in focus and there is a lot of shine and glare.

I really like the spare space and the fact it's only two tones in a warm yet vibrant bokeh. Nice job. 9

Focus on the ant needs to be a lot better. I do, however, like the colors and blurred background.

I agree with your title! Is the critter alive? Looks like she is missing part of her leg? DOF could probably be better.

I truly enjoy this photo :-) I love the contrast in colors, and the DOF on the ant is amazing!! There's so much detail and clarity. It really is a beautiful shot of something most people take for granted. Excellent job and one of my favs for this challenge!

... and missing part of a leg, it would seem. It's always quite hard to get beyond the sheer scientific interest in macros like this, so there is some immediate impact from that alone; i half-like the composition - certainly the graphic nature of the shot the bokeh, the red and green appeals, but I'm unconvinved, I think, of your precise choice of framing in your crop.

I would have liked more depth of field in this one, so that more of the subject was in focus

I love this shot. This is a beautiful shot of a not-so-beautiful creature. Very nicely done! <7>

Cool shot, I like insect shots. But it is a bit highlighted and the face could be more clear. But insects are tricky things to photograph.
