On the way back to the hotel, we stopped off next to some fields on a country road, one field of which was full of poppies by the roadside. Since WW1, the poppy has been the emblem of remembrance of those lost in battle, as they grew amougst the graves of soldiers.

The original was cropped slightly, resized, focus tweaked, foreground half's saturation & contrast increased, background half's levels adjusted, and finally all double bordered.

I wonder how many will understand the significance of the red poppies and Memorial Day? I remember when veterans used to stand outside the grocery stores selling paper poppies to raise money for veterans issues. Great shot!

The simplicity of this, and the smooth colour transitions really give this photograph a lot of appeal. It has almost an abstract quality in that I see the colours and immediately feel a sense of tranquility before I absorb the contents of the foreground and background; this is definitely a very beautiful work of art. Nice job!

this is gorgeous, the natural green-yellow gradient looks like a painting

I like the progression from top to bottom - the light and the focus. I wish there were a bit more to hold my attention in the bottom half of the frame - a poppy closer to the camer and relatively larger or perhaps be father away and have more poppies in the frame (all those soldiers lost! Perhaps that would work best with your chosen theme) Lovely red color.

Sometimes I see a photo that grabs my attention and this one does that. I love the red specks of color on this green/tan background. The border really works for this one too.

I gave you a 9, not because of your title, but because I find this a very beautiful capture of a wild flowering field. I can name all specifics I like, but actually I like the whole picture. Well done! One can 'taste' nature's beauty in this one.

A very appealing image with lovely colours, if that main foreground poppy could have featured even more prominently I think it would have given it even more impact

The colour toning in the foreground is very attractive, but the sheer brightness of that background just pulls the eye constantly, and I don't find anything there to warrant that. I do love the detail of the foreground though.

i would have liked this better if only the bottom portion had been submitted

Poppies are always a favorite! The only suggestion I have for this photo is that the light in the background is too harsh. Still scored it a 10 - good luck!

I really like the transitions this image makes, just wish there were a specific subject to focus on.
