nice shot, but would have liked to see the colors of the bird be more vibrant. This bird has a pretty blue to it which does not get demonstrated here. I still give you an 8
The markings on the bird's face I believe is what you're referring to in your title however this is not a key element in the image. The triangle connection here is the framing of the bird (IMO). The two branches and the leaves across the top, though having objects poking into a composition from the edges usually detracts as they take the viewer out of an image.
Fill flash probably wasn't an option however more light and/or contrast is required to make the bird stand out better. Also, the tail is cut off so a not so tight crop would probably work better.
