5 cheap die
felt marker and a drill press to make some indents

----------- post challenge remarks
4 reasons i left a shallow DOF
1) it helped the depth of the image
2) to open up - it would start to show the grain of the background
3) it showed more of the imperfections of my extra dots on the dice (drilled
dents & black marker) *most important reason
4) i thought it looked better ;)

though in retrospect / green felt would have done wonders

Neat idea - where did you find these?

How????

Nicely done! I figured there were going to be a few dice shots, this one is well done and original. Love the DOF (or lack thereof) as well.

'twould make Yahtzee rather predictable. ;-)

If the had only five faces I'd REALLY be wondering!

The totally black background does not seem natural. Green felt perhaps. I would have preferred more depth of field as the subject is the five die, not just the one in front. Nice find on the multifaced die. A 7.

greater dof would be more effective here, imho. the image also suffers a little, i feel, from the duotonal quality. a different color background might have perked this up more.

I don't know why you chose a shallow dof here.. I would love to see all the five dices in focus here..

wow...I want these dice in Vegas....hard 10

Would have been a winner if they were all in focus. Suggest you play with the f-stop settings and try and get some depth of field varation. See //www.dpchallenge.com/tutorial.php?TUTORIAL_ID=1
