Wow! I loved this photo when I was voting, without even knowing the story. That is such a sweet, sad story. Even tho the parents get along famously, there must always be a sense of loss and fear of the unknown for their babies. Absolutely AWESOME photo!!! I wish it had scored much higher.

Thank you for the comments. I took a number of shots of this little beauty while she was upset that her dad had to leave for a honeymoon with his new wife. This was the only one shot through the glass door. I thought about using the other "cleaner" shots without the reflection that many people didn't seem to like, but I love the reflection of the people looking on and it transfers the idea to the viewer...that while you can appreciate the image, you're still very removed from this very sincere and emotion filled moment by the glass involved, in the door and also the lens.

This is a great expression captured!! However, it seems a little distracting because it appears as though it was taken through a window. The reflections casting back on the image which is your subject tends to blur. She has such a great expression on her face, I just hate to see it marred by reflections! Good focus and clarity!

This is a really powerful shot. The blurry hair in the foreground is quite distracting, but the subject exemplifies the challenge topic that I'm willing to overlook it. Very nicely done.

You have really got the feeling there, look at the arms and face. A bit disturbed picture probably taken through a window?

Not sure about the double exp (or reflection), however you captured one of the best displays of emotion I have seen during this challenge.

That's so sad. :-( I used to get that from my daughters, but now they mostly concerned that I bring something back for them. Very touching photo, I like the framing. Is that a sad mommy in the reflection? :-( Nice job!

I can feel this little girls pain, great capture. But there is something in the foreground that is very distruptive to the picture. 6

Love this shot, took a little bit of examination before I realized it was shot through a pain of glass. It is to bad that the images in the glass were not a little more blurred, so as, not to draw the eyes from the subject. 9

Great image except for the streaks infront of the camera

Foreground hair/reflections take away from the power of this shot.

Very emotional photo that fits the challenge perfectly. I must admit however that I don't care for the bizzare lines in the girls skin. I assume this is some type of lighting effect. Asside from the lines this is a wonderfull image. hmm after looking at it a bit more I notice what apears to be a reflected face in around on the chin of the guy in the shot. was this shot through a window? Was this intentional? are two questions that run through my mind when voting on this shot.

good shot, but the foreground element on the right is pretty distracting.

This is one of my favor images of this challenge. For one, it is real, and not posed. I love the out-of-focus stuff in the forground that gives the veiwer the feeling of seeing this private moment from a distance. This is a wonderful shot, and should do very well. <9>

was this shot through a glass? nice sentiment, but the reflection doesn't work for me, as well as the lighter streaks that perhaps were caused by the glass. 5

A great pic but not sure what the fuzzy stuff is on right side, kinda distracting. It looks like a reflection from a mirror.

what is that blurry part covering a major part of the photo? is that hair? if it is, too bad it was there.

this would be fabulous without all the white discolorations on her face and arms
