Location: Fountains Abbey

A revisit to the site of one of my earlier shoots, absolutely packed because it was a bank holiday weekend, so it took a while before nobody was in the shot.
Always tricky with these dark shots, as people's monitors are never consistent with them... so some people may see this darker than I intended, and some may see it much lighter.
Very ambiguous challenge, and difficult to title... mood or emotion, make your mind up?!
No tripod.

Light at the end of the tunnel comes to mind. Doesn't seem haunted to me but I like the shot.

Great composition - including so much ceiling really emphasises the height of it as well as the sense of the viewer being insignificant. Lovely detail of bricks, high contrast black and white working well for this. Doesn't convey haunted to me but does make me think of loneliness, emptiness, possibly silence, serenity...

This is a flat out brilliant photograph. Might not 'capture an emotion' but it couldn't be much moodier if it tried. Excellent processing and use of black and white.

generally, for this challenge I only liked shots that had people or extremely emotive animals, this one was an anomoly for me and really does a good job at capturing a mood of solemnity and darkness

this is such a fabulous image - but doesn't meet the challenge - wish I could give it a 10

Gorgeous shot, with enough of a darkness to evoke a nice "dark" mood. The light at the end of the tunnel idea works here, and I do like the texture and detailing of the nearby arches/ceiling. 9 but because of the current discussion on the theme of this challenge, I'm reckoning some people will vote this down because it "evokes" rather than "captures" an emotion, so I'm bumping up to 10 to overcompensate. Ha ha.

Although I don’t say this is a bad picture I have scored this low.
Low in my book is not extremely low, but I guess there will be other people thinking the same way I do who don’t leave a comment.
Don’t take this the wrong way, this is my own opinion, and I am trying to let you understand what some voters may think.

In my opinion this does not meet the challenge, the description of the challenge: Take a picture that captures an emotion.
I looked hard, but I don’t see an emotion. This could be my fault, but that’s the reason why I voted lower as I would normaly do.
