Challenge: Moods (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Canon PowerShot G5
Location: Winchester, OR
Date: May 1, 2005
Galleries: Landscape, Nature
Date Uploaded: Apr 30, 2005

Yeah, I'm going to be one of the weirdos who does a "mood" landscape rather than a portrait. I had a portrait up, but this is so much better in my opinion... I'm ready for the brown ribbon though, especially with all of the obvious saturation and contrast editing.

Editing: Curves, levels, hue/saturation, blurring, adjustment levels, cloned out a couple of cars on the brdige, dodging and burning, sharpening. The bulk of the editing was colour work and dodging to make the highlights pop out.

This feels like an oil painting. Although I could tire of photographs Photoshopped this way rather quickly, it works well here.

Excellent! I can tell that it's been PS'd but I don't have that "crap it's PS'd".....this is how it should be done in my opinion....makes the picture look the way you probably saw it....not exaggerated. 10!

I'm tending to favor images with people in them but yours does a good job of conveying a mood so I included it in my choices for higher numbers. I especially like the bright patch of flowers on the right.

the softness works really well here. Nice selective burning (assuming you did so)

Really great processing here. I've got to teach myself how to do this gaussian blur/mystical effect type thing one day... you obviously have it down pat.

I like the composition, the bridge leads the eye to the centre, but I find the colours too saturated.

Think I like the editing and good subject. Not sure it gives me the feeling of serenity.

Great post-processing which comes close to being over the top but stays the right line of overdone. Purple sky works well. Selective blurring has worked well. Not completely convinced by the composition of the bridge which looks like it needs a bit more of a diagonal placement in the shot. A little too much foreground has unbalanced the composition.

Wow, beautiful shot. Reminds me of Thomas Kinkade paintings with the great lighting. Very impressive. 10

Nice. Not sure if serinity is a mood or an emotion? But, the picture is very peacful and inviting. A place i would love to escape to. Only other thing I am drawn to the white spot in the upper left hand corner, would be nicer, to me, if it was not there. 7.

Wow, Great picture, effects, lighting, stand point. Excellent. I like it. After a little thought and looking it feels like the bridge is hiding behind the trees there. I mean it is behind the trees but what if the whole bridge was displayed. It's not a bridge challenge, but if it were then the trees would have to go. I like the sun breaks through the clouds too. Good shot.

Reminds me of Harry Potter and the Hogwarts express. I know, no train, but the tracks look like the ones in the movie. Creat shot, looks more like a painting than a photo, but I guess that is what a great photo sould look like. 10

too much dodging and burning for "serenity", it's agreat shot but it looks infact more dramatic rather than serene

Although I don’t say this is a bad picture I have scored this low.
Low in my book is not extremely low, but I guess there will be other people thinking the same way I do who don’t leave a comment.
Don’t take this the wrong way, this is my own opinion, and I am trying to let you understand what some voters may think.

In my opinion this does not meet the challenge, the description of the challenge: Take a picture that captures an emotion.
I looked hard, but I don’t see an emotion. This could be my fault, but that’s the reason why I voted lower as I would normaly do.

the varied lighting and carefull processing look reminiscent of e301's work - though the focus is softer than he seems to prefer. I am left wondering who the photographer is - who took this lovely picture?
