 Thanks everyone who voted for this. I am excited to get my first top 10 finish. A little about the context of this picture. It was taken at a protected natural area near Santa Cruz, Bolivia. The picture is more of a accident than planned. I was taking pictures of the sand/sky/dead trees when my 13 year old son got in the way. He decided on his own to fill his jacket up with sand and throw it in the air. I just let it unfold and snapped a few frames along the way. The original picture was quite cluttered with branches obscuring my son. I Photoshopped several away, and even moved some. Here is my original unedited version. The color of the sand and sky in the entry is pretty close to the original.

Don't like the title ... so I'll just ignore it : )
Technically very well executed, and quite an interesting shot. The colour variation in the sand that's been thrown up is intuiging in itself. I'm seeing a strange squiggle in the sky behind the man though, and a speck of sensor dust which should be cloned out.
Overall, a "where on earth did this idea come from?" shot (a good thing) with good strong shapes and colours.

Lovely sharpness and composition. Good concept for the challenge. Very stark looking light that perhaps suits the interpretation. But the sky looks over blue and the sand looks under yellow. Good work, though. 8
