Nice clarity and lovely colors on this one. I like your depth of field. Have you considered cropping just a little tighter around the flower? I love iris. My grandfather won many international awards for some of his varieties. Nice photo! |

Thanks for your interest. I sure wish I could take it again. It has withered up and died. that is one of the hazards of floral shots. |

I agree with Sue here. The flower is so beautiful! So sharp and in such vibrant colors. The DOF is excellent, but the background not being in a homogenous color look too busy and completely distract the viewer's eye from the flower.
If you get a chance to take the same photo from the other side, having the background green - it would be the best. But as for this photo, you can still make it better by lowering the contrast on the background and make it's dark parts a tad lighter.

The iris has great focus and colors. I do have to agree with suemack that the background [tree] is competing with your subject. I don't know what editing program you are using but if it allows I would tone down the background color so you subject would be isolated. Good job! |

I really like the colours and focus on the iris, but I do find that the colour and textures of the tree in the background compete with the flower for attention.
Would love to see this shot again if you moved round and got a green background. |
