Thanks, i didn't crop out the top of his head, it was never in the photo to began with. This photo was not set up, it was just spare of the moment.

I liked this photo a lot - very surprised to see it place so low. Underrated - the flash was a distraction, but should not have been critical to this great capture. The unprocessed look of this photograph shone through for me. However, in advanced editing challenges, I suppose that people expect any distractions to be cloned out. Cheers.

bad crop, but it makes me smile. That flash light culdh have been cloned out.

GREAT focus on the laugh! There are only two things I would suggest about this photo. 1--I know the laugh is the focus, but it's somewhat disturbing that the top of your model's head is missing :-) 2--There is a reflection on the wall to the left of the subject, possibly from a lamp or the flash. Not sure what can be done about this, but it makes a distracting spot. The lighting is SO good on the face, I hate to have my eye drawn away!!!

This is one big laugh for sure! :) The light reflection in the background is a little disturbing. Also I might have cropped less from the upper side. Just my opinion. Good luck.

I really love this picture, you might get slammed by others about "technical" issues (flash glare on wall, etc.) but for me it's not all about the technical...this is a great candid/journalistic picture, I really like the tight crop too...it's all about this little persons glee.

ahh, you should have cloned out the glaring spot in the lower left. that would have helped so much! with it there it looks very amateurish. i'd have given it a 6 or 7 without - but as it is, 5

The flash has blown out all of the detail in his teeth and caused a distracting hotspot in the background. The crop emphasizes his mouth and the candid feel of the shot.

The flash mark is a bit distracting, but it does bring out the mood

like the kid's face, how his eyes are closed and almost like he's squinting. the light from the flash is distracting though
05/05/2005 06:57:55 PM
nice contrast clear.........but the glare to the left hurts the eyes

nice image and i like the cropping.

the flash is a little bit too much - reflection in the bottomright and the teeth are blown out by it. otherwise nice capture

What a smile! great picture
05/04/2005 12:32:56 PM
cute snap shot; teeeth are blown and flash is distracting

Great moment, good face. Reflection of flash on left immediately lets it down though, as well as bad light and shadows caused by onboard flash.
05/04/2005 05:34:06 AM
Great look!! I think you should crop out the flash reflection and give the boy a little more air over his head. 7

definitly communicates a mood, B&W works well here (8)
05/03/2005 01:11:40 PM
Love the expression but the bright reflection is very distracting.

Cute kid, great laugh! Nice focus and composition, interesting idea for the framing, I like it. Too bad about the blowout on the background. He looks like a great subject. You should try to get him further away from the background with some gentler lighting.
05/03/2005 10:25:00 AM
Great capture of emotion, shame about the reflected flash on the left!
05/02/2005 07:53:15 PM
Man, that kid's head looks big!
05/02/2005 07:47:01 PM
hotspot hurts this otherwise his face is great
05/02/2005 02:02:35 PM
Nice picture but the camera flash on the left is distracting, maybe it should have been cloned out, i would have liked to see more of the boys face and less of his shirt, but gd attempt all the same
05/02/2005 01:11:28 PM
but for the light glare, i'd score this higher. 7

really cute, the expression is great, and composition works except for the flash reflection on the bg surface, could've easily cropped that out or cloned it out. Only other gripe is the teeth are blown out. Nice submission though

Nothing like the joy of a child! Watch that flash -reflect on the wall, glasses, windows. Also shiney shirts. I do love his little face and his total joy. Your focus is good and I like the b&w for this shot.
05/02/2005 06:33:46 AM
Cute child, but a flash bounced higher (ceiling perhaps) would have eliminated the shiny cheeks and background glow.
05/02/2005 02:18:10 AM
oooh, what joy! :) beautiful!
05/02/2005 01:41:19 AM
That's not a little laugh, that's a big laugh. One thing I'd do is soften the picture a little and try to get rid of the flash on the wall. I love how you're just drawn to the mouth though.

Cute, but the large reflection in on the left detracts from the shot.
