Not sure what this photo is doing? Overly centered, viginette mask (I assume) exaggerates the fact even more. Model looks unsettled to me. I think the photo would have been better with no model and the dock off to the side.

Just got told off by my missus for looking at this one for a bit TOO long....Great on so many levels. Hope you do well

The subject really pops out of the frame. Was this fill-flash on its own or something like two separate RAW develops. Either way (or any other way indeed) I like the effect.

I love that shot. Looks very surreal. The lighting is very interesting. Good luck!

Nice shot. Just don't like the shadow on her middle. Sky is awesome.

Nice ..... Dock!!!! She seems a little pasted on - I would love to know the lighting on this shot! 10

If the lighting on this is real, and not dodge and burn, then it is spectacular. It looks as if it was made in studio with strobes. Love the shading, the colors, the overall sharpness. Good luck in the challenge!

Good photo...I like leading lines to the subject aswell as the focus....but i have to say that i don't truly care for the models exspresion....should do good anyway ;)

I like the placement of this shot. The clouds seem to be working with you. 9

Loved this on the 1st pass & surprised to see it needed validation on the 2nd pass. There is nothing about this image to criticise, well done

lucky pirate!

weird expression on the model...to the point that it makes me wonder if the model is even necessary in this shot.

Lovely background, but I'm not convinced by the model's pose/attitude. Shoulders seem very tense and awkward. There's a nasty shadow cast by her jacket... caused by off camera flash? Also some haloing around the girl which is presumably why it had to be validated.

Great photo. I give it a 10.

Dang -- that's an INCREDIBLE shot! The model is stunning, the lighting is great... this is just an awesome shot all around. I realize there are a jillion great shots in this challenge, but this one is certainly a stand-out. Hope it's wearing a ribbon soon! - 10, obviously... :)

this one could have been fabulous...her pose could have been worked on a bit more

great idea. if it was mine, I'd probably have posed the model off to one side in the frame - or of course - used the camera angle to create a similar effect. (After all, we don't want the nice model to land in the water) Anyhow, great concept and colors.

almost looks blue screened....could you post an original unedited after the challenge?
04/19/2005 09:06:15 PM
Hey, duck a little, you're in the way of a great view ;)

I'm a little split on this one. She's not entirely pirate, more like a modeled pirate not wholeheartedly executed. And, the landscape is great and would've been a good shot without her. Still, she manages to capture my eye and make this image stand out in the crowd.
04/19/2005 06:39:44 PM
Looks like she wasn't really at the location. I don't like this treatment.
04/19/2005 02:11:35 PM
arrgghh, matey! shiver me timbers, that's a boatload of attitude ya caught there. good luck!

great mood with the sky ...thats some model you got there! like this! 7
04/19/2005 09:58:50 AM
shadows are too harsh
04/19/2005 05:31:37 AM
I'm going to take a guess and say that there is a bit much burning in there. 6

This is so close to being brilliant. Perhaps the pose - if her body faced a quarter left, face straight on?? Still an arresting image.
