*** CRITIQUE CLUB COMMENT ***
This is an interesting shot on which to comment, since it's 100% challenge-driven and, arguably, 90% off challenge topic, yet it's very witty and amusing for all of that.
The topic is "Tacks". "Tacks" are not the subject of your image. The subject is a message, presumably to other entrants, begging them not to do "Tax". And of course by the time they see YOUR image, they've already done whatever they were gonna do, so your plea literally falls on deaf ears. Now, in my twisted mind this is conceptually brilliant, in a league (if i do say so) with my self-portrait-as-a-raindrop-on-a-thorn image. That one got crucified, this one fared much better.
I presume you didn't expect to finish especially well, so we won't go there.
I presume you didn't mean this image as representative of your photographic skills either, it's entirely a piece of conceptual art to me. So let me just comment that technically it's workmanlike, competent, nothing objectionable about it. It looks "real", and that's a compliment in this context. The printing, btw, is very nice.
Thanks for the opportunity to comment.

Well, this one certainly has tacks (if not tact) |

There are no tacks in this image. ;) I think you need to clear oyur board - 2002 was a long time ago. Not sure of the importance of "Puns Suck" but the focus is tack sharp. 8 for originality. |

LOL - funny shot! Actually, the contrast is abit low on this image. The lightest and darkest points are still shades of grey. Maybe you can set the writing as your black point and the lightest piece of paper as your white point, then the image's color will look richer. Still, nice setup. Thanks for the laugh! |

Goodbye subtlty. Goodbye good humor. Goodbye civility. Goodbye tolerance. Goodbye civilization.
Okay, okay, I will assume it's meant to be funny. But if I were a punster I could easily find it offensive and small minded.
I'm afraid I'm having a hard time finding anything good to say about the photo except 'good job in avoiding blown highlights.' |
