These were taken April 14th, at the Colton HS track, during a production by S.K.I.D. (Stop Kids Intoxicated Driving)
In an effort to reduce tragedies related to drinking and driving, SKID works with the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Metro West Ambulance, LifeFlight (medical air transport), and a Medical Examiner. The events are held the week before prom night at metro area highschools. The program provides students with a realistic view of what can happen when they drink and drive. Since the program's inception in 1998, there has been only one alcohol-related death of a high school student!

Yeah, I told Christie not to get my daring escape in photographic evidence, but you know her...

Sorry to correct metoecus, but the officers firearm is securely placed in its holster. The "unbuttoned" flap is in fact his handcuff pouch which is open. Great photo by the way.

From a photographic standpoint this picture concisely captures the moment. The background is a touch busy, but for a photojournalistic shot that's not necessarily a bad thing.

From a procedural standpoint (and this is what struck me at first glance) this officer is setting himself up to be shot. The gun holster is unbuttoned, and the suspect's fingers look like they're extended toward the gun. Not a good situation (even if it isn't real), but still a very good photo.

I'd not heard of the SKID program before. I think that it could make a big difference if some of the schools in my area tried something similar. Thanks for sharing the photos.
