Over all image impact is good. You have good tonal range, from D-Max (that is the blacks in the photo) to D-Min (that is the whites in the photo). The point of focus is on the right eye, (of the subject) with the left eye (of the subject) slightly soft, this is a good use of DOF.
When doing a B&W portrait it is important to remember you will need to be more aware of contrast. With color the flesh tones will add to the depth and range of your photo. B&W however has only shades of gray. This means you need to use the light and dark arise of the image to show depth and texture.
To improve this image I would suggest a little more contrast, not much. From the right side of the face to the left side (of the subject) could be a bit more contrast. At the right bottom edge of the photo is a, hand or something; this creates an uneasy element to the photo. This could be moved before shooting, if not possible then darkened in post processing.
Over all a very well done portrait. Keep up the good work.
Beautifully lit, perfectly exposed. Nice expression. Lips, near eye perfectly sharp. Everything about the photo is perfect, except it doesn't call to me. I wonder whether the expression is a little understated? Or if it is just that at this angle it's a little more difficult to read? In any case, it is a beautiful shot.
Definitely fills the frame. With a shot this close attention to all details will make or break it...with that said, I'm wondering what the reflection is in her eyes? Other than that I think it's a great photo. Good work.
Simple and very powerful gaze on this subject! Since this photo guides my eyes towards the eyes of this subject I wish that you have a used a little larger DOF on this one to also bring in the other eye into focus but still that's just a minor thing. Very well done!
Nice composition, there were several close up images that I viewed in this category, this one strikes me with the most emotion, although her expression is subtle.
