Challenge: Abandoned Buildings (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Location: Paintsville Lake WMA
Date: Apr 11, 2005
Aperture: 20
ISO: 1600
Shutter: 1/60
Galleries: Landscape, Nature
Date Uploaded: Apr 12, 2005

I happened up on this abondoned house in the Stonecoal Unit of the Paintsville Lake WMA. I was amazed by the standing chimeny and the dramatic contrast of delapidated humanity against nature.

The image was taken with the camera handheld (forgot my tripod).

Great subject. I would have tried a different crop. The chimney is almost cutting the picture in half.

I would love to see a shot of this scene done in the summertime with the contrasts in colors of the delapidated shack and the forest hues!

Nice photo. I would have liked to see the colors, but then again in the forrest area they might have been pretty dull. Good job.
