Challenge: Abandoned Buildings (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Nikon D70
Lens: Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED
Location: Upstate New York
Date: Apr 9, 2005
Aperture: F/5.6
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/125 sec.
Galleries: Landscape, Rural
Date Uploaded: Apr 11, 2005

Adjustments made in RAW to curves and white balance. Then further adjustments in my graphics program were a Gaussian blur layer (in normal mode) at reduced opacity, reduced size and applied Neat Image at about 20 percent strength to the small version, then applied USM, and also more curves adjustments and color saturation. All adjustments were applied to the whole photograph.

I don't know what happened to this barn but I hope someday to find out if I can locate its owner. I have driven past this site many times but this was the first time I stopped to photograph it. I wanted to go inside but, first of all, I'd have been trespassing; and second, I chickened out when I saw some rather large rodents running through the hay pile in front. :)

This image has an interesting post-processing artifact look which actaully adds to it and gives it a strange quality. Is it due to excesive noise reduction?

Nice. This almost looks like a painting. Be interested in seeing how it was done.

I love what you've achieved here in basic editing -- and I want to know how you did it!!!! I couldn't get this look without adding layers in modes other than normal! The colors are rich and wonderful. I'm sure others will disagree, but I think I would crop out the concrete block building and pull in closer on the barn section. It's just a thought :) Seriously, teach me how you did this!

Looks like a victim of 9/11. Interesting shot. Very awesome colors, both warm and cool. This image looks like a dream. A bad dream maybe, but I feel like Dorthy, in the Wiz of Oz, somehow. Wonderful textures of all kinds, wood, brick, grass, straw, tin, all working together very nicely. I love this image. <10>
