This tricolored heron was gathering sticks to help his mate build their nest. He swooped down and grabbed this one right out of the water.

Love your bird photography... please share with me, what lens do you use? BTW, my average score on your 3 competition birds is.... 8...And I am a tough one to give over 7, must be truely great to go in the 8-10 pool.

This is a very, very good image. Kudos to you for such a spectacular capture. The color in it that is practically screaming to be brought out, particularly the greens and the blues. This is hard for me to score because I feel you are short changing the image a lot by not bringing out its color. I'm giving it a 7, but has potential to score a lot higher.

Nice action capture. I think this shot would look better if you boosted the contrast a bit to keep it from looking so dark or muddy throughout. But you did a great job with composition and with grabbing an excellent action shot.
