|Hello from the Critique Club :)
Let me first say that I'm not entirely certain what it is about this shot that disturbs me, but the initial impression is not a comfortable one. That's just an "artistic" or "taste" observation on my part, though.
I am intregued by the cross in the eye. It is an amazing focal point. However, the shadow over that portion of the man's face detracts from the strength of the focal point and distracts the viewer.
I like the DOF, the clarity of focus on the face with the blurred background is great.
I wonder about the color here...The face tones seem awfully red and at the same time slightly over-exposed.
In all, I think the shot is a good one, though I think it missed the mark for the challenge. I'm guessing the symmetry is in the cross in the eye. If such was the case, a firmer or larger focus on that eye would have brought it out. If that isn't where the symmetry was, I simply didn't see any.
