Three male wild turkeys and their harem during the early morning...I have followed this flock for a few years, these three males grew up together...during mating season, which is now, they are more aggressive toward each other while trying to attract the hens...I used a little unsharp mask to increase luminosity of their feathers, then cropped slightly and a little bit of dodging on some select feathers.

A bit dark, wonder if flash could have made a difference here, shadows would have been minimum....

those boys look like they mean business. i bet you had fun, trying to get them to pose for you ;-)

as far as images go, i don't have any problems with this. as a challenge entry, though, i think it is a bit on the weak side. this isn't one of those images where you can really ask 'is there anything i could do to the image to make it score higher?' you have to separate out the difference between shooting well and scoring well. scoring well is not only a matter of shooting well, but also submitting images that have a bit of a 'wow' factor. sometimes, that wow factor might be something as simple as a different perspective. in any event, the wow images are going to have evidence of careful consideration for composition and capture.

it's obvious you have decent equipment, and enjoy getting out with your camera. just don't take your scores personally. keep on working at it and pushing yourself, and you'll get where you want to be. good luck!
