just a little something i learned how to do at the PhotoShop Down & Dirty seminar...
'creative' collaging
1) pick an image to create a streaked background and open it up
2) under the filter menu, select motion blur. set the angle to -90 and move the distance ALL the way to the right. click ok.
3) on the layers palette, click the new layer button at the bottom and add a hue/saturization layer. click 'colorize', and set your hue and lightness to your preference.
the rest of this is a matter of adding text and lines. play with it, have fun.
as for text, here's some things to try:
1) click the text tool and set your font to something blocky and SUPER large (100, 200, 400 pt).
2) type in your text, hit the enter key
3) on the menu, select Layer -> Rasterize -> Type
4) click the rectangular marquee tool, and, while holding down the shift key, draw little boxes on your text.
5) when your ready, hit the backspace key to take out chunks of the text...cool, huh?
