just a little something i learned how to do at the PhotoShop Down & Dirty seminar...

adding 'interest'

1) open an image, preferably of something boring with a white background
2) with the rectangular marquee tool select out a rectangle, type ctrl-j to create
a new layer
3) on the layers palette, click the add style button at the bottom and add a drop
shadow. give it a bit of size
4) add another style for color overlay. add a color and lower the fill
5) select out another area and create a new layer
6) THIS IS THE COOL PART: drag the styles from layer 1 to the new layer!!!! (then
change the color...)
7) repeat steps 5 & 6 until you're happy ;-)

[note: admittedly, this was not the best base image to work with, but it was all i had...]

Thanks again for this great tutorial. I tried it, but had some problems. The coloured overlays were drowning the coffee cup. Hope you know what I mean. Anyway, to get around that, I linked all the coloured layers, and then changed the blending mode to multiply...and it worked. Yahooo! Thanks again Skip. I love learning new stuff.
