 I will probably get hammered for thinking "outside the box". But this is what came to mind first when I saw this challenge come up. This is my first try at a macro shot.

Nice image. However, flower head is in shade, showing no contrast in flower head. Colour is consequently muted and contrast low. The focus seems a little off your central elements, but that may just need a bit of sharpening.

Nice close up photo. I would have liked to see a bit more contrast between the flower and the background. The flower kind of gets lost.

Nice detail. Increased use of light and shadow would give more depth and bring greater intensity to this pretty flower.

seems a bit dark to me, but that is just my opinion and I am far from an expert.

I wish there was a little more light in the bloom, although this way it does contrast nicely with the background which is lighter. 6
