Challenge: In the Beginning... (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Sony DSC-P100
Location: Philadelphia Zoo

Date Uploaded: Mar 29, 2005

It was shot at the zoo. I had two pictures, one displaying the glass and one without it. I liked the reflection in the glass because it made the point come across stonger that they are caged behind it.

Nice idea. However, technically suffering quite a lot. Reflections in glass are very distracting (get closer to glass, consider polarising filter). subject is out of focus and wires in background distract.frame on LHS adds nothing and should be cropped out.

nice idea, but too much reflection and the focus is too soft.

The reflection of the glass is hard to avoid. If there's enough light you can try a polarizing filter, or using a tripod and no flash. I like the idea though.

Great look you are getting-my difficulty with your shot is in the glare from the glass.

Reflection and dirt on the glass don't help this photo.
Composition could be improved, it's very centerd.
I like the look on his/her face.

using a polariser here ( if camera can take one ) would really improve this by removing the nasty glass glare on the bottom of the shot and I would also have cropped the dark black diagonal line from the left as it distracts from the ape too.

My low score has nothing to do with creationism v. evolution. I subscribe to the latter, but this image has been taken obviously through some kind of a window, and a dirty one. There is a pretty large and bad reflection in the middle bottom, and a unnecessary distracting line on the left that should have been cropped out. The remainder of a background is too busy. I hope you do better in the future, this was a good idea not executed well enough.
The positives: the ape's expression is for at least a 9.

Good approach to the challenge, but the subject is a bit out of focus and there's a reflection that probably came from the glass in front.

shot through glass? I don't think this works

The gorilla's face is very expressive, but the strong glare on the window prevents me from rating this higher.

Photo has a bluish tint to it and glare from flash is distracting.

Nice model, nice expression. That darn windo has caused no end of grief in this photo, though.

Lot of glare on the glass. I would have cropped more on the left to remove the dirty glass. Yess it would have lost the fingers. Great facial capture, eyes looking right at ya.

The smudges on the glass greatly reduce the quality of this photo...in my opinion. sorry...2
