Challenge: In the Beginning... (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Nikon D70
Location: San Francisco Zoo
Date: Mar 26, 2005
Aperture: 4
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/100
Galleries: Portraiture, Animals
Date Uploaded: Mar 27, 2005

Hopefully this is a unique take on this challenge. I hope that it is not voted down for the evolutionary aspect of this photo.

The white line on the chest is not dust on the sensor, it is a piece of straw stuck to the fur. Since it is a basic editing challenge, I could not PS it out.

Taken with Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR at 200mm.

I think this shot might look better as a B&W photo given that it is already rather monochromatic. Good expression and framing.

even if viewers went along with evolution this is wrong, usually best not to try and involve too much controvery; much less misguided controversy. Nice capture though

Nice idea. Some white blobs (middle, and middle left) are v distracting. expression of ape is not particulalry engaging. Maybe crop right elbow out and include slightly more on the LHS and bottom of pic?

low contrast

Interesting. The lines of the shot flow nicely, and the body position draws the eye to the face, thought the hand coloration fights that a bit.

Love the look - almost human. Those lens scratches (hairs, fluff, whatever) are a shame though.

This is just wonderful! The expression and the hand position, the angle of the body; this gorilla is just fantastic and perfect for this challenge; although, I am afraid some people aren't going to like it..!...9
