Challenge: In the Beginning... (Basic Editing III)

I used a Black backdrop for the Background. Then I spray painted gold glitter on to it. I took an egg and positioned so it looked like the earth was hatched from it. Then I used a ball that was painted to look like the earth, I had to add the polar ice cap with some white paint. Then I suspended the ball from a piece of black thread atached to a piece of wood hanging above. Then I used my sb600 in a home made softbox, lighting it from slightly above and to the left.

I used the unsharpmask to bring out the stars in the background. Then some touching up with hue/sat, curves and color balance.

I fixed this image alot for the printable version. The basic editing limited me for this challenge.

Nice shot, only thing that I don't like is the edges of the eggshells, otherwise good!

great job lighting the shell and disguising the surface on which the eggs sit.

Very clever and nice lighting!

Nice idea! Note sure if it comes off though - egg is over sharpened to my eye. Globe isvery odd looking - siplified, but with something going on with the ice region. while I am sure it within the rules, the overall effect is one of a slightly cheap special effect (no offence!).

Clever depiction. I was considering something similar, but without the egg... I like the colors and crispness of the image.

Great idea, but it just looks a little too fake.... is that rubber ball? Maybe a tiny bit of blur would have cleaned up some edges.

Interesting concept.

The earth, complete with little mold-release line around the equator. Cheesy, but nicely wrought.

I like this.. nice idea..done well.

Just as an aside, how could the "newborn" earth have modern continental divisions? an amusing image, marred by an unnatural giglight on the left eggshell.
