Thanks everyone for the comments. They really help a lot.

I especially find the critical comments helpful - when I read that my composition is too cluttered or the light is flat, I agree completely. Without your input, it's difficult for me to recognize what should be done to improve my photography. So, thanks for your help. I hope to be a good listener and really use the tips you're offering.

Nice observation. Image lacks that punchiness - mainly due to quite flat light - to lift it away from a snapshot. Perhaps closing in on just the ice would help to focus the viewer on the key subject, since there's really too much peripheral context which makes it feel quite busy.

Fabulous tones and colors. Reminds me of a certain entry from Surreal -the same colorings and slightly ethereal look. I can't wait to see who created this.

I can feel ice cracking under my feet just looking at this. I like it.

Ice crack lines...how interesting. You could have removed the busy background to accentuate the lines. I love the colorful orange ovals that brighten up the scene and contrast with the dark colorless strands of black ice cracks. Thanks. 5

To cluttered, there had to be a better angle for this?

The cracks in the ice and the spherical floats are very photogenic. So, too is the hull of the nearest boat. Pretty much everything else detracts from the photo IMO.
