Blatant copy of a shot by Lee Beel

Shot in my kitchen with an angle poise lamp and the forks in front of a black t-shirt.

Resized and cropped, converted to B&W via gradient map with heavy emphasis on the black.

I had a border but I think the no-border voters would complain so I painted it out creating the forks appearing from blackness at the bottom

Run through a quite severe Neat Image setting to finish and remove some blemishes on the fork backs.

and submitted

dont really have a clue about still life work but taking Lee Beels shot and re-creating it kinda made me want to experiment more.

I love the forks! To bad for the fingerprint - that kinda loses it for me ...

Cool idea. The forks seem kinda flat though. Not sure how to handle this. Perhaps more contrast in PS?

very clean and an interesting take...can i have one nitpicky gripe?...when shooting super reflective surfaces, make sure you wipe off fingerprints before the shot

Excellent photo. I'm giving it a 9 because of the fingerprints on the fork. If those were gone it would have been a 10.

This is a pretty dull subject, taken very well. The only thing I would change is the angle of the shot. If this were diagonal within the frame, I think it would add a bit more interest and tension.
