Edits:
Made a copy of the image on a new layer, and applied USM:
- 30%, R=40, Threshold=0
- 100%, R=.3, Threshold=3, mode=darken
- 100%, R=.3, Threshold=3, mode=lighten
Masked off all but tops of trees and fenceline with a very soft gradient mask
Applied curves on an adjustment layer
Plus:
- Additional curves adjustment layer masked (very soft gradient)to reveal only the sky above the fog. Adjusted curves to darken sky
- Readjusted first curves adjustment layer to darken overall and bring up reds a bit.
