This is amazing. Your virtuosity never ceases to amaze me. Just a stunning shot with surreal light controll. In a challengeit would do well if you popped a skier in the middle of it, but it is just too much of a pure study to garner the attention it warrants in the midst of 300 other thumbnails.
I guess I would joing the other camp. This photo doesn't really appeal to me. Abstract, interesting? Yes. Something I would want on my wall? nope. To me, the lines aren't that clean, it is visible to me that this is something plasticy, old, worn. Now there is a beauty is such things, but the different protrusions and worn marks take out of this image, IMO. As far as lighting and composition? excellent, like people mentioned, lovely tones. But the subject matter doesn't excite me.
I think this would have been a good entry. My take on the challenge was to get as white a background as possible with your subject mostly a light color. In this respect, you have done wonderfully. On my monitor, the top (background) is a very pure white color while the bottom (subject) has a grayish tinge (still a light color). I probably would have given you a 7 or 8.
The lower part looks wonderful to me. I love the different shades of white and the weird texture.
The top looks a bit too bright white to me and I would prefer this photo if you had cropped about half of the top part, to leave a white area which is not larger then any of the different shades at the bottom.
