I love it at Cannon Beach Skate Park. The Skate park was built in the 70s. It was the first skate park ever built in Oregon. The skateboard the boy is riding is a longboard which were used by everyone who lives in the 70s.

Hey... i gave this a 7, and I have to admit... I thought this would do well. This deserves more than a 5.5 avg. As far as some people saying that this is not 70's... you need a history lesson, because thats when it erupted. And that board he is using is definitely not 80's. Thats a 70's style board and design, and had no place in the 80's and 90's. I was a sponsored skater in the 80's to mid 90's and I was not riding those, so I would know.

As far as the 1980's are concerned, the 80's was more of the evolution period in shape and design. But skateboarding is definitely a 1970's icon.

I agree with bpickard. This picture should have scored higher. Great shot and 70's feel. Skateboards were a 70's thing with the banana boards. I don't know how someone would not remember that. I gave you a 10.

That's it. I've had it with these voters....I'll boycott the update button for 1 hour in remembrance of this picture. Keep up the good work and you will be rewarded in time! Ben.

Somehow skateboards don't really say 70s to me. Nice shot though.

Sorry, but this has too much an 80's-90's look to it.

This has winner all over it. Practically the only shot in this challenge with INTEGRITY and it does show in the way that I look at it. What it reminds me of is those rather patronising and forced articles that National Geographic had at that time: for example, this could be 'Work and Play on the West Coast'. The muted colours, the soft focus and the great composition all hit the nail on the head. In a word: perfect.
