We were heading to a family reunion of sorts in Columbus, OH, and decided to go through Charleston, WV, as we had never been there. It is a most beautiful little city. We spent a fair amount of time downtown after dark, and felt absolutely safe. The city was clean beyond measure. It is truly a little gem to visit.
The city itself is on the river, but located in a pre-historic gorge. The overlooks are incredible.
As typical, I snuck out before daybreak, to go exploring, leaving everyone else to a good night's sleep. This was taken about 45 minutes before sunrise, down by the river's edge.
