Challenge: Separation (Advanced Editing IV)

I originally tried to get an action shot of my partner separating the yolk from the white, but they just did not turn out (and the lighting was difficult). I took this with a regular bed lamp, adjusted so that as little light as possible fell off the back of the counter. I used a few different apertures and prop positions, and this seemed to be the best. I cropped out some of the foreground (which included a tile line). To leave the picture balanced (with enough white showing), I was forced out of the 6x4 aspect ratio. I had a closer shot with less background that I thought about using, but felt that this view enhances a sense of "separation" from the background as well.

I took the picture using RAW mode, and edited it in Elements 3.0. I adjusted the shadows, contrast, brightness and temperature.

I'd eat either one, although I'd probably use a mixing bowl ...

i'll give you a A for effort. yes, there are things you can do to improve this shot, mainly working on the lighting, but all the same, nice effort, especially maintaining the yolk. 7

one of the better egg shots so far. Ver welldone from a technical stand point. Good lighting, color and focus. I do feet that it is a little week in the separation area however. In this paticular situation showing the separation of the shell, yoke, and white. Persnaly prefere to see the actual separation taking place. While this is not a shot I would frame for my wall it is still a very nice shot.
