Well I had a good idea but didn't do it so I just send this one representing some kind of a separation. At least I love the photo but I had hard time convince myself it would fit in the challenge. Here it is anyway, you like it or not.

It is from a hiking trip and more of it is here.

______
And how it is related to then it is:
Separation of the two persons in the front from each other.
Separation of the two persons in the front from the two persons in the back.
Separation of the four persons and the nature.
Separation of the sky and the snow on the Earth.
And yes those invisible paths that came to my mind when I had no more idea.

Thanks for all. I'm happy with that 7th place.
A little bit about the picture. Although it looks a little bit as a photo from Heida I was not at all trying to copy her work or anything.
I started burning and dodging more than 20 years ago in a darkroom.
But I think picture like this is much better and much more dramatic if the sky is rather dark but not sterialised white or blue.
And I have some more picture like this one .here.

ahh, Heida it was not, but Iceland. Combination of the characteristic scenery and the human figures dwarfed in a huge landscape makes it look very much like her work.

This was my pick for first- it's a great image.

That looks really cold! Diverging hikers is a good interpretation, if not a good plan ...

The dark brooding sky adds mystery and drama to the shot

fits the challenge well. This is a particularly chilling and wonderfull scene. I like the way the small ripple in the snow banks are shown, the depth of the shot and the colors are nice. The only thing I can see the I would change is the shadow in the bottom left of the shot.. great shot 8
