You look a little scared of your own little world. I like the tones you used.

There's a kind of 40's or 50's retro look to this photo that you don't see often.

Nice shot. Your own little world seems to be a scary place :)

i don't know anything about portraiture, so i'm using your image to try to figure out what i think i would or wouldn't do in this situation, as well as what i notice and get out of your image.

the expression you've captured seems to indicate more of something just having been realized. good work with the composition, focus, cropping, and general contrast. the lighting is a bit on the strong side, which is limiting the range of tonalities that could better convey the character in your face. too bad about whatever's at the bottom of the image. all the same, a nice effort. good luck!

Light is awkward on the face. Otherwise, nice B&W.

Good and honest character revelation. The facial expression and hand placement make the image endearing. The image has a searching look which we are all familiar. However, outside of the superb composition the lighting enhances the impact. A tiny minor flaw, but one easily forgiven in self portraits is the rendition of the left pupil. It lacks the crispness of the right. Yet, the image has enough substance to over ride this inequality. Bumping up to 7

would like to see your face a little more contrasty...the sepia tones don't seem to hit all the way down to black, and that washes you out a little. it just a personal preference thing...perhaps that's exactly what you wanted. the expression is good; apt for the title (chicken or egg...dunno)

nice.

You look like you are intently staring at something... perhaps waiting for the camera to click ; )

This tone does not work for me. Too redish. 5
